# VMS integration

Understand how Milestone video, events, alarms, and cameras integrate with Command Centre.

Milestone is Gallagher's deepest VMS partner, with **three distinct integrations**. This page covers the first: viewing Milestone video inside Command Centre. See also the [MIP Plugin](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/video-management-systems/milestone/milestone-mip-plugin.md) and [MIPs (Milestone Integration Platform)](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/video-management-systems/milestone/milestone-integration-platform-mips-overview.md).

This is a modern camera-tile style integration.

**Live video viewing:** drag-and-drop a camera icon from a site plan onto a tile; find a camera in a tile; pre-configure a tile for one camera or for **event-triggered** display (for example a Door or Intercom event); **up to 16 tiles on a single Viewer**; PTZ where supported; move to a preset; capture the current frame as .jpg to the clipboard; **4K via H.265**; and fit-to-tile or native aspect ratio.

**Stored video viewing:** stored by the Milestone system and retrieved into the Command Centre VMS UI. View alarm-associated video (marked with a filmstrip icon), plus **pre-alarm and post-alarm** video; search alarm-associated video; adjust playback speed and direction; toggle live and stored per camera; capture a frame; and view on a Spot Monitor Viewer.

**Command Centre to Milestone:** a user-configured event or alarm sends a message to move a specified camera to a preset, or to retrieve stored video.

**Milestone to Command Centre:** all Milestone server events, **including motion detection, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), and diagnostics**, can be mapped to Command Centre. Common events are mapped by default; add more per the release note.

**Compatibility:** the Milestone SDK supports a wide range of cameras (see Milestone's own documentation). Gallagher tests a small selection and cannot guarantee all.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/video-management-systems/milestone/milestone-vms-integration.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
