# Configure Salto Bluetooth licensing

Set up Salto Bluetooth licensing and review credential requirements and behavior.

### Requirements

* Command Centre licensed for **Mobile Credentials and Salto**, with **Command Centre Cloud online**.
* Salto Server licensed for **BLE** (C866020, free in year 1 with C866022), at least one BLE device and licence (C866223), and communicating with both the Command Centre server and the Salto Ethernet encoder.

### Credential behavior

A cardholder with a Gallagher Mobile Connect credential gets a BLE credential pushed on issue or enable. Salto credentials default to **7-day expiry**. Command Centre pushes a refresh over the **Gallagher Cloud 1 to 2 days before expiry** (gradually). Unlike Gallagher BLE, the phone must be held **on or near the lock**, then the user taps **"Open Salto Door"** in Mobile Connect. Doors do not auto-populate on approach.

### Enable BLE in Salto Space

Go to System → **SAM & Issuing options**. The **BLE** option must be ticked.

### Enable the BLE license

The Channel Partner contacts **SOM** for a **Salto BLE Licence (Annual, C866020)**. SOM has Salto add it to the site's **Spaint** number. **Salto BLE Wireless Door Licenses (C866023)** are purchased per BLE door, which makes correct Spaint-number registration important. For **DEMO** sites, contact Salto Technical Support (SOM cannot modify Demo Spaint licences). After the options are added, update the Space server licence.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/third-party-readers/salto/salto-hardware/salto-bluetooth-licencing-troubleshooting.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
