# Collect IDEMIA diagnostic logs

Collect and export MBTB diagnostic logs from an IDEMIA (Morpho) reader after reproducing a fault.

Collect a diagnostic log with the Morpho Biometric Toolbox (MBTB). MBTB is on the Gallagher install media, and is usually installed when Morpho is set up on a server.

{% hint style="info" %}
Use the **latest version of MBTB** to support the latest IDEMIA readers.
{% endhint %}

1. Open MBTB.
2. Enter the reader IP, then select **Connection**.
3. Go to the **Settings** tab and enable logging. Set `error_log.enabled=1` and `error_log.debug_level=8`.
4. Replicate the fault, then connect to the reader again.
5. Choose the reader-maintenance icon (second from the bottom).
6. Select **Download Diagnostic Log** and choose where to store the log file. A dialog confirms when it is finished.
7. Choose the notepad icon.
8. Select **Get Log**, then select the dialog that appears. Wait while the logs are gathered. A dialog confirms the logs have transferred.
9. Select **Export to CSV** and choose where to store the log, preferably where you stored the first log. A dialog confirms the transfer.
10. Go back to the **Settings** tab and revert logging to the default: set `error_log.enabled=0`.
11. Disconnect from the Morpho reader.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Revert after collecting the log:** set `error_log.enabled=0`.
{% endhint %}

A common fault to log is a reader that does not come back online. See [IDEMIA reader does not come online after an update](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/third-party-readers/idemia-morpho/troubleshoot/idemia-readers-morpho-reader-failing-to-come-back-online-after-updating.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/third-party-readers/idemia-morpho/troubleshoot/idemia-readers-diagnostic-logs-from-a-morpho-reader.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
