# Configure IDEMIA readers over OSDP

Connect IDEMIA (Morpho) readers through OSDP with correct addressing, wiring, and reader overrides.

Command Centre **v9.00** adds OSDP for IDEMIA readers. Use **v9.00 MR1**, which has a more reliable add, a 'Reboot' override, and an improved tamper alarm.

### Supported firmware for OSDP

Use the latest firmware version available, from [IDEMIA products](https://biometricdevices.idemia.com/s/products). The minimum supported firmware is:

* Sigma family **4.5.0**.
* MorphoWave SP **1.2.7**.
* VisionPass and MorphoWave XP support OSDP by default.

### Configure

1. Drag the reader onto the Controller **OSDP RS485 Bus**.
2. Give it a unique address **0–126**, then apply. Command Centre configures everything when you drag the reader to the OSDP RS485 Bus window and select **Apply**.
3. Check the reader status. Status shows **Secure OSDP Communication** (encrypted by default).

The OSDP bus baud rate has **4 options**. The baud rate must match per bus, so it must be the same for each RS485 bus. Use **115200** for better performance.

For general OSDP addressing, see [OSDP - Setting up an OSDP device for the first time](/knowledge-hub/products/cc-software/configure/interface-options/open-supervised-device-protocol-osdp/osdp-setting-up-an-osdp-device-for-the-first-time.md).

### Wiring

**Sigma Lite and Sigma Lite+ readers (RS485 only):**

| Morpho readers that support RS485 only | Controller RS485 port |
| -------------------------------------- | --------------------- |
| RS485\_A Blue                          | A                     |
| RS485\_B Blue / Red                    | B                     |
| RS485\_GND Black / Red                 | - (Ground)            |

**VisionPass, MorphoWave, Sigma Extreme and Sigma Wide readers (RS422 and RS485):**

| Morpho readers that support RS422 & RS485 | Controller RS485 port |
| ----------------------------------------- | --------------------- |
| RS485\_TX\_Z Green / Black + Blue/Black   | A                     |
| RS485\_TX\_Y Green / White + Blue/White   | B                     |
| RS485\_GND Black / Red                    | - (Ground)            |

TX and RX are abbreviations for Transmit and Receive.

{% hint style="warning" %}
OEM manuals show the colours reversed. The instruction manual that comes with the MorphoWave and VisionPass shows the wiring colours the other way round.
{% endhint %}

### Overrides

* **Shunt / Unshunt** stops reader comms and I/O. Shunt stops communication to the reader, and all inputs and outputs on that reader are unavailable to the system until you perform an Unshunt override.
* **Re-initialise Encryption** is for a replaced reader reusing an old IP, or a status of "Encryption required". A replacement reader still uses the previous reader's IP address. To correct this, a Re-initialise Encryption override is required. If the status shows "Encryption required" during OSDP assignment, the operator can also use this override.
* **Reboot** (v9.00 MR1) reboots the reader.

### Reader display messages

LCD readers show zone state (for example 'Secure' or 'Dual authority') and Access granted. Off shows a coloured bar only, for access granted or denied. By default, Reader Display Messages is set to **'Use site default settings'**.

A reboot is required to clear the text box.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**"Display Cardholder Name after access granted" does NOT work over OSDP.**
{% endhint %}

### OSDP troubleshooting

| Problem                                                                                     | Possible cause(s)                                                                                            | Solution                                                                                                                                      |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| OSDP Morpho reader not coming online with status displaying "The device is not responding." | The reader has been replaced. | Perform a "Push Configuration" override. |
| OSDP Reader not coming online. | Network disconnection, device offline. | Remove the OSDP reader from the OSDP tab of the Controller, then add it back again. |
| Bad packet alarm generated `Invalid packet type: 0x6B` | Using a MorphoWave SP reader with old firmware can cause this when "Show reader display messages" is ticked. | Either turn off "Show reader display messages" (the MorphoWave SP does not have an LCD screen), or update the firmware to the latest version. |

Copying and pasting an OSDP-connected Morpho reader links the copy to the original. See [IDEMIA reader troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/third-party-readers/idemia-morpho/troubleshoot/idemia-morpho-troubleshooting-and-faqs-morpho-troubleshooting.md).

### Factory default

1. Power off the terminal.
2. Remove the terminal from the bracket (wall).
3. Connect these pins together: **GPO\_0 (Yellow)** to **Wiegand\_IN0 (Green/Red)**, and **GPI\_1 (Orange/Red)** to **Wiegand\_Out1 (White)**.
4. Power on the terminal.

The menu and hardware factory-reset procedures, with the firmware condition and default IP, are on [IDEMIA reader troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/third-party-readers/idemia-morpho/troubleshoot/idemia-morpho-troubleshooting-and-faqs-morpho-troubleshooting.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/third-party-readers/idemia-morpho/configure/idemia-readers-idemia-morpho-osdp.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
