# Aperio - Troubleshooting

Common Aperio faults and the lock and hub LED indications.

## Lock pairing order

On an AH30 with multiple locks, to replace a lock you must remove and re-add **in order**. A replacement uses the **next** unit-order number in Command Centre, not the removed one. If you run out of order numbers, unpair the higher-numbered locks and re-add them.

## "Bad Packet from part x" when presenting a card

The lock was installed or replaced without the PAP Lock Configuration applied. A new lock needs **Sector 15** added (MIFARE Classic), and similarly for DESFire/MIFARE Plus. See the Aperio section of the Installer's Guide.

## Cards not recognised

**Version 2 Aperio locks do not work with DESFire EV2 cards.** Ensure PAP has the **decimal** Application ID encoded on the card.

## Schedules and Aperio locks

Prior to **v7.70**, an Access Zone mode change via Schedules required a card to be presented before the lock reacted, and it reverted to secure at midnight. **From v7.70**, V3 Aperio locks respond to schedule-controlled Access Zone changes directly (the Controller on the AH30 needs the correct firmware).

## Cannot connect to a new Aperio device with the installed PAP

Aperio releases new products continually. Contact Gallagher Technical Support for the latest PAP version.

## Aperio lock needs a card presented twice to unlock (intermittent)

An early v7.70 issue (lock time-sync pushed every 60 min, later changed to 24 hours). A patch exists for v7.70 (`vEL7.70.572 CCFTAperio.dll`).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/third-party-readers/aperio/aperio-hardware/aperio-troubleshooting.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
