Look up elevator integration acronyms, product codes, and vendor-specific terms.

Single reference for elevator-integration jargon, acronyms, and Gallagher and vendor product codes used across Kone, Schindler, Otis, and ThyssenKrupp integration notes.

## A-D

**Badge Number / Unique ID** *(Schindler)* A cardholder identifier synced from Command Centre to Schindler via Schindler ID. It can be sourced three ways: Card Type Specified (Facility Code + Card Number), Mifare CSN (Card Serial Number), or Direct PDF (manual entry). The badge number is what Schindler uses to identify the cardholder when making access decisions.

**C** *(Kone mask abbreviation)* "Connected", used in Kone Global Default Mask (GDM) configuration. For example `COP_GDM_C` = COP GDM in Connected state. See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**C6000 / Controller 6000** Gallagher field controller used for elevator integrations. The C6000 has a single RS232 port, supporting one serial elevator connection.

**C7000 / Controller 7000** Gallagher field controller. Required for HBUS-based integrations and supports higher port counts than the C6000. Used in [Kone ELI](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli.md) and Schindler Ethernet deployments.

**C12516** *(Gallagher product code)* Schindler ID, the data sync component that pushes cardholder data from CC to Schindler. Supported since v7.00; merged into core Command Centre in v7.50. See [Schindler](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/schindler.md).

**C12814** *(Gallagher product code)* Schindler Call by Profile, standalone access method introduced in CC v8.10 that sends a Profile name (not cardholder data) to Schindler. See [Schindler](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/schindler.md).

**Call by ID** *(Schindler)* Operational access method where a badge is presented at a Gallagher reader and the Call Manager Interface Plugin sends a Unique Identifier (badge number) to Schindler; Schindler then uses synced cardholder data to make the access decision. **Depends on Schindler ID.** Supported since v7.00.

**Call by Profile** *(Schindler)* Standalone operational access method introduced in CC v8.10 where the Gallagher controller sends a Profile name (mask) to Schindler via REST API through the Middleware. **Does NOT depend on Schindler ID or cardholder sync**, and is privacy-preserving by design. See [Schindler](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/schindler.md).

**Call Manager Interface Plugin** *(Schindler)* Middleware plugin (runs on the FTCAPI Middleware Framework PC) that enables Gallagher readers to initiate Schindler access. Sends cardholder details (Call by ID) or Profile name (Call by Profile) to Schindler over TCP 5050. Required when Gallagher readers are used; **always required for Call by Profile**.

**Conventional Dispatching System** *(Kone)* Older Kone elevator architecture. Integrated with Gallagher via [Kone Serial (Standard)](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-serial-standard.md) using Kone Protocol v2.5 over RS232.

**COP - Car Operating Panel** *(Kone)* Represents the button panel **inside the elevator car**. A CC item type in [Kone ELI Configuration](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-configuration.md). The `C7` suffix in CC indicates association with a C7000 controller.

**CSN - Card Serial Number** *(Schindler / Mifare)* A unique identifier read from a Mifare card. Used as a Badge Number source in Schindler ID's Mifare CSN mode. Supports 4-byte and 7-byte CSNs.

**D** *(Kone mask abbreviation)* "Disconnected", used in Kone Global Default Mask configuration. For example `COP_GDM_D` = COP GDM in Disconnected state. See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**DD - Destination Default** *(Kone)* Kone mask abbreviation used in Global Default Mask configuration strings. See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**DESFire** *(Mifare card type)* A Mifare contactless smart-card type used by Gallagher for encoded credentials. Schindler terminals require a SAN/SAM card with the Mifare Site Key to read Gallagher-encoded DESFire cards.

**Direct PDF mode** *(Schindler)* A Badge Number sourcing mode where the badge number is **manually entered** in a Personal Data Field. **Gallagher does not validate** Direct PDF badge numbers; responsibility lies with the CP or end-user.

**DOP - Destination Operating Panel** *(Kone)* Represents the call panel at each **floor landing** (outside the elevator car). A CC item type in [Kone ELI Configuration](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-configuration.md). In a Destination Control deployment, the cardholder selects their floor at the DOP rather than inside the car.

## E-K

**ELI - Elevator Link Interface** *(Kone)* The IP-based Kone integration method. Implemented per Kone's *Group Controller Access Control Interface Specification Rev 1.8*. The current Ethernet-based integration for Kone elevators. See [Kone ELI](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli.md).

**F** *(Kone mask abbreviation)* "Free" (access state), used in Kone Global Default Mask configuration. See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**Floor Arrangement** *(Kone ELI)* A CC item type that defines which floors a cardholder is permitted to reach. Assigned to cardholders or access groups. See [Kone ELI Configuration](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-configuration.md).

**FMF - FTCAPI Middleware Framework** *(Gallagher)* The Gallagher middleware platform that hosts integration plugins (Call Manager Interface, Life/Live Reporting). Runs on a dedicated Middleware PC. Default install path: `C:\Program Files (x86)\Gallagher\FTCAPI\Middleware Framework`. FMF log path used in Schindler troubleshooting: `<install>\Log\FMF`.

**FTCAPI** *(Gallagher)* Gallagher's integration framework. The Middleware Framework that runs Schindler integration plugins is part of FTCAPI. Used in folder paths and licence/plugin filenames.

**GDM - Global Default Mask** *(Kone)* A set of default access masks (GD1-GD4: DOPs connected, COPs connected, DOPs disconnected, COPs disconnected) sent to Kone Group Controllers during connection initialisation. Configured via the `GlobalDefaultAccessMaskOption` parameter in vEL8.90.1318+.

**HLI - High Level Interface** Generic Gallagher term for higher-level (often serial) elevator integration. See [HLI Reference](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/hli-reference.md). Used in CC item type names: *Elevator HLI*, *Elevator Car HLI*, *Kone ELI HLI*.

**KCEGC** *(Kone)* Kone Common Elevator Group Controller (per source context). Newer Kone Group Controller architecture. The KCEGC1 setup allows up to **5 KCEGCs in one Kone Group** with master/backup failover (one master, others backup). The protocols stay the same: Kone ELI + Kone RCGIF plugin. See [Kone ELI - RCGIF Plugin](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-rcgif-plugin.md).

**KGC - Kone Group Controller** *(Kone)* The Kone-side controller that the Gallagher integration communicates with. Traditional Kone ELI HLI supports one **primary KGC** and one **backup KGC**. KCEGC1 expands this. Configuration mismatches between primary and backup KGCs are a known issue. See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**Kone Elevator Access** *(Kone Office Flow)* A CC item type and Administration tab introduced for [Kone Office Flow](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-office-flow.md). Represents Access Rights in KONE Office Flow. Configured with Kone Validity Times, Areas, Actions, Lifts, and Terminals imported from KONE Office Flow.

**Kone Office Flow** *(Kone)* A KONE building/people-management system. Gallagher integrates via cardholder synchronisation only, **not for elevator access control**. See [Kone Office Flow](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-office-flow.md).

**Kone Protocol v2.5** *(Kone)* The serial protocol used by [Kone Serial (Standard)](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-serial-standard.md) for older Kone elevator systems on Conventional Dispatching.

**Kone Service** *(Kone Office Flow)* A CC item type for [Kone Office Flow](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-office-flow.md). Configured with KONE Office Flow connection details and Cardholder sync settings. Also used to import KONE items (Lift Decks, Actions, Areas, Terminals) into CC.

**Kone Validity Time** *(Kone Office Flow)* A new type of CC Schedule introduced for [Kone Office Flow](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-office-flow.md) that represents a Validity Time in KONE Office Flow. Assigned to Kone Elevator Access items.

## L-R

**Life/Live Reporting Plugin** *(Schindler)* Middleware plugin that receives access decisions and event data from Schindler back to CC. Maintains the audit trail and logging. TCP 6060 (FTCAPI router service). Used with both Call by ID and Call by Profile; **optional** in both cases. Also enables CC to receive non-badge card events from Schindler.

**Miconic** *(Schindler)* The Schindler product line associated with the legacy serial HLI integration. See [Schindler](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/schindler.md).

**Mifare CSN mode** *(Schindler)* A Badge Number sourcing mode that uses the card's hardware-native Card Serial Number. Three workflows supported: (1) Gallagher encodes the card and stores CSN, (2) a USB Mifare encoder captures CSN if not Gallagher-encoded, (3) CSN-based access requires Schindler ID configuration.

**Mifare Site Key** *(Schindler)* The cryptographic key used to encode and decode Gallagher-encoded Mifare/DESFire cards on a customer site. Configured in CC at `File → Server Properties → Card Security`. The customer provides their Mifare Site Key to Gallagher; a SAN/SAM card for Schindler terminals must contain the matching key.

**PDF - Personal Data Field** *(Command Centre)* A configurable field on cardholder records used to extend cardholder data. Used in elevator integrations to carry vendor-specific values:

* **Schindler Profile** (Call by Profile)
* **Direct PDF** badge number (Schindler ID)
* **User Template PDF / Master Group PDF / Department PDF** (Schindler ID syncing)

**Polling / Poll** *(Kone)* Periodic message exchange between the Gallagher Controller and the Kone elevator system. Detects connection loss and propagates state changes. Configured in the Elevator HLI Advanced config string. In vEL8.90.1318+, the default polling interval changed from 30 seconds to 0 (disabled). See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**Polling Limit (PollLimit)** *(Kone)* Limits how many simultaneous messages the controller sends. Default changed from 10 to 1 in vEL8.90.1318+ to prevent the Kone device from being overwhelmed. See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**RCGIF Plugin** *(Kone)* Middleware plugin on top of base KCEGC. Adds support for **calling an elevator** (ready to take the cardholder to their home floor) when entering through a turnstile. Required for Kone KCEGC1 (multi-controller Kone Group) deployments. See [Kone ELI - RCGIF Plugin](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-rcgif-plugin.md).

**Rear Door Access** *(Kone)* Kone ELI supports both Front and Rear door access. Configured via the Elevator HLI and Floor Arrangement items. See [Kone ELI Configuration](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-configuration.md).

## S-Z

**S** *(Kone mask abbreviation)* "Secure" (access state), used in Kone Global Default Mask configuration. For example `DOP_GDM_D=DD=F(or S);`. See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**SAM Card / SAN Card** *(Schindler)* Security Access Module card (the source uses SAN and SAM interchangeably), a hardware component installed in Schindler terminals to read Gallagher-encoded cards. Contains the Mifare Site Key used by Gallagher cards on the site. Per FAQ Q8: required for **MIFARE Classic and DESFire** cards (note: a prior KB version said "DESFire only"). Encoded by Gallagher Professional Services as a paid service.

**Schindler HLI (Miconic Serial)** Legacy serial integration: RS232 cable from C6000 directly to the Schindler device. The original Schindler integration variant, which predates Schindler ID + Call by ID and Call by Profile. See [Schindler](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/schindler.md).

**Schindler ID** *(Schindler, Gallagher product C12516)* A Gallagher component that **syncs cardholder data** (name, badge number, PDFs) from CC to Schindler. **One-way only, strictly for data sync, not access control on its own.** Required for Call by ID. Supported since v7.00; merged into core CC in v7.50. See [Schindler](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/schindler.md).

**Schindler Profile** *(Schindler, Call by Profile)* A profile name carried in a PDF on cardholder records. Sent to Schindler at access time. Must match **exactly** with the profile configured in Schindler; the cardholder will be denied if the names mismatch. See [Schindler](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/schindler.md).

**SD - Source Default** *(Kone)* Kone mask abbreviation used in Global Default Mask configuration strings. See [Kone ELI Troubleshooting](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-troubleshooting.md).

**SendSpecific / SendNoTrack / SendTrack** *(Kone)* Values for the `DefaultMaskTrackOption` parameter introduced in vEL8.90.1318+. Controls how default masks are sent to the Kone Group Controller during connection initialisation. **SendTrack is the recommended default.**

**Turnstile DOP** *(Kone, RCGIF deployment)* An External System Item type used in [Kone ELI - RCGIF Plugin](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/kone/kone-eli/kone-eli-rcgif-plugin.md) turnstile deployments. **Important gotcha:** the default response Group 0 is set to "not log an event", and must be changed via an Action Plan on each item, or response logging will be invisible.

**Unique Identifier** *(Schindler, Call by ID)* The badge number passed from the Call Manager Interface Plugin to Schindler when a Gallagher reader is badged. Format depends on the Badge Number sourcing mode in use. See also the credential strings `CN_FC` and `CN_FC_CI_BT` in [Schindler](/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/schindler.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/integrations/elevators/glossary.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
