# High Security Overview

Gallagher's High Security solutions and the government standards they meet in each region.

Command Centre's High Security offering serves government and critical infrastructure sites, with region-specific solutions for the United States, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Each region has its own standards, approvals and deployment requirements.

### United States: PIV

The US offering is built on PIV (Personal Identity Verification), a US Federal standard that uses 3-factor authentication (card, PIN and biometric) over PKI. Gallagher has supported FIPS 201-2 since Command Centre 7.40 (2016) and the solution is designed for compliance with FIPS 201-3.

Command Centre does not issue PIV credentials. Credentials are issued by the relevant agency or issuing authority. Command Centre enrols existing credentials and requires the High Security PIV licence.

For background on PIV, credential types and US Federal standards, see [PIV Reference](https://claude.ai/chat/piv-reference.md).

#### Gallagher PIV solution

* Supports FIPS 201-2 from Command Centre 7.40 and designed for compliance with FIPS 201-3
* Open enterprise architecture, IT-focused, with native IP controllers and true peer-to-peer communications
* NIST-approved encryption, including 128/256-bit AES and 2048-bit RSA
* FIPS 140 compliant cryptographic components from software to controller to peripheral devices

#### Registration topologies

**13.01, third-party registration engine:** Command Centre PIV software, HID pivCLASS registration software and Gallagher PIV hardware (readers).

**13.02, Gallagher registration software:** Command Centre PIV software, Gallagher embedded registration software (included) and Gallagher PIV hardware.

The Veridt Stealth biometric reader is supported in both topologies as an exception to Gallagher PIV hardware.

#### Component checklist (minimum PIV-capable system)

6000/7000 High Security PIV Controller, 8H/4H/8-In-2-Out door modules, T11 and T21 Multi-Tech PIV readers, an enrolment reader (fingerprint plus card insertion), Command Centre PIV software, additional PIV reader licences, workstation licences, VMS/API licences, and an optional HID pivCLASS registration module (13.01). See High Security Hardware & Troubleshooting.

### Australia: Type 1A

Type 1A is an Australian Government security alarm standard for intrusion detection and does not cover access control. Gallagher's Type 1A solution is SCEC endorsed and uses Intruder Alarm Panels (IAPs), Data Gathering Panels (DGPs), user interfaces, end-of-line modules and associated cabinets. A Central Supervisory System (CSS) server provides monitoring and reporting.

Type 1A is only available through Gallagher Type 1A accredited installers. Channel Partners should contact Gallagher Technical Support for deployment requirements.

### New Zealand: Type A

Type A is a New Zealand Government high security solution for intrusion detection. Gallagher's Type A solution is approved by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) and provides a full end-to-end authenticated and encrypted security alarm system. Channel Partners should contact Gallagher Technical Support for deployment requirements.

### United Kingdom: NPSA

Gallagher's UK high security solution supports NPSA requirements (CAPSS and AACS) and GovPass. Compliance depends on installing and maintaining the system as documented.

### Passwordless sign-in

Command Centre supports FIDO2 passwordless sign-in with supported USB security keys. It requires Windows 10 build 19H1 or later. See Configure FIDO2 passwordless sign-in.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/high-security/high-security-and-piv-overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
