# The Home screen

### Description

The Home screen enables you to perform an action for a visitor and change a visitor's status.

**Note:** If you are a Receptionist user, this screen displays automatically at logon. The Home screen is available for Receptionist users only.

To open the Home screen, click the **Home** button located on the toolbar. Expected visitors for the selected reception are displayed on the 'Expected' status tab.

The Home screen displays your default reception, the columns and action buttons for this reception, as configured in Command Centre and the visitors on a visit for this reception.

### Columns on the Home screen

This table explains the columns on the Home screen:

<table><thead><tr><th width="126">Column</th><th>Function</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Visitor Name</td><td>Click the hyper-link to view the visitor's details.</td></tr><tr><td>Meeting With</td><td>Click the hyper-link to view the meeting with person's details.</td></tr><tr><td>Escort</td><td>Displays the Escort assigned to this visitor.</td></tr><tr><td>Arriving</td><td>Displays the arrival date and time for the visit for this visitor.</td></tr><tr><td>Departing</td><td>Displays the departure date and time for the visit for this visitor.</td></tr><tr><td>Status</td><td>Displays the current status for this visitor.</td></tr><tr><td>Next Action</td><td>Click to perform the next action recommended for this visitor, or click the drop-down arrow and select an action to perform for this visitor.</td></tr><tr><td>Visit</td><td>Click the visit icon to view the visit for this visitor.</td></tr></tbody></table>

**Notes:**

* Two additional columns, (i.e. **Card Number** and **Visit Notes** ) will also appear if configured to do so in Command Centre. The **Card Number** column (which can be sorted on) shows cards assigned to the visitor. When the **Visit Notes** icon is clicked, a dialog displays showing the notes relating to the visitor's visit. The content of this dialog is read-only, and cannot be changed.
* An additional **Send Message** button will be available in the Action buttons if the site is licensed for Notifications. This button allows a Receptionist to send a manual notification (via email and/or SMS message) to a Host and/or Escort for a visitor or Tour Group.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/cc-software/operate/visitor-management-client/receptionist-functions/the-home-screen.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
