# Finding a visit

### Introduction

This topic describes how to find a visit. You may want to find a visit in order to:

* view a visitor on the visit
* edit the visit, (e.g. departure time)
* print visitor badges, if applicable (e.g. at the end of the day, print visitor badges for visitors that are due to arrive the following day)

### Procedure

Perform the following procedure to find a visit:

1. Click the **Find Visit** button located on the toolbar. The Find Visit screen displays. This screen displays the search criteria and results from the last search.
2. Either:
   * enter the name of a visitor on the visit into the Visitor Name field, or
   * enter the name of the person meeting with the visitors, for the visit into the Meeting With field, or
   * select an arrival date from the Arrival Date drop down list. If 'Between date range’ is selected, date and time fields are displayed, you will need to enter a date range and time

     **Note:** Name matching is not case sensitive.
3. Click **Search**. Results are displayed for each visitor on a visit (including visits which have been cancelled or where the visitor has not turned up) which match the search criteria entered.

   Visitor search results are displayed in ascending visitor name order. To sort rows by ascending or descending order, click the column header.
4. To view the visit, click the visit icon ![](https://328339335-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F6bM8WhlBE9BYizPWJaPN%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-f878c6ba2892234dbd673f35052f930dca071c0f%2Fvm_visiticon.jpg?alt=media) or double click the visitor record.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/cc-software/operate/visitor-management-client/pre-registration-and-receptionist-functions/the-find-visit-screen/finding-a-visit.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
