# Auto-generated PDF

Auto Generated PDF lets Command Centre **automatically generate and assign a unique numeric value** to every cardholder assigned a specific **Personal Data Field (PDF)**, for example a Unique ID generated on record creation.

{% hint style="info" %}
"PDF" here means **Personal Data Field**, not the document format.
{% endhint %}

## Behaviour

**New in v7.90:** the **Non-reusable Values** checkbox was fixed. In v7.80 it did not prevent reusing a value that had belonged to a deleted cardholder if the checkbox had been unchecked at the time. From v7.90, once checked, it stops **any** value used by a deleted cardholder from being reused.

## Use case

A mine site installing Command Centre wanted to streamline contractor onboarding. The enhancement auto-generates and assigns a **Unique ID** to new contractors on record creation, usable within Command Centre and exportable to other IT systems. This reduces filing costs and data-entry errors and saves staff time, and it makes Command Centre the **source of truth** for Contractor Records.

It also supports **importing** Unique IDs from an HR database (for example for regular employees). It only generates a new ID where the field is **not already populated**.

**Versions supported:** v8.00 to v9.40 (every version).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/cc-software/operate/auto-generated-pdf.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
