# IP dialler

Configure IP dialler network access, ports, and DC-09 or CSV monitoring protocols.

The IP Alarm Transmitter is part of the firmware on the **6000/7000 controller** and simply needs to be configured.

* **Only one IP dialler per 6000/7000 controller.**
* The controller with the IP dialler **must be able to reach the Internet** to establish a connection with the remote monitoring station. IT staff must open a communication path through the site's router.
* The **default port is 29000**, but this can be changed in the IP dialler configuration.

Two protocols are available for the alarm dialler:

| Protocol  | Available from                                    | Requirement                                                       | Notes                                                                                                                     |
| --------- | ------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **DC-09** | **v6.10** | Gallagher Monitoring software installed at the monitoring station | Each event message transmission is approximately **900 bytes** (with or without encryption) |
| **CSV** | **v7.20** as a customisation; **core from v7.30** | Monitoring station has CSV capability | Allows Command Centre to connect directly to an external monitoring centre, no Gallagher software required at the station |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/cc-software/configure/alarm-transmission/alarm-transmission-ip-dialler.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
