# Arm alarm zones

Arm all or selected alarm zones from a Remote Arming Terminal.

### Arm all or individual alarm zones

1. Log on to the Remote Arming Terminal.
2. Press the **Arm** soft key on the "Choose Action" screen.
3. **If the "Prompt for alarm zone selection" privilege is NOT assigned**, all Alarm Zones with the "Change to Armed state" privilege are automatically armed.
4. **If the "Prompt for alarm zone selection" privilege IS assigned**, the "Arm" screen displays.

### Use the Arm screen

* Only **disarmed** Alarm Zones for which the operator has **both** "Prompt for alarm zone selection" **and** "Change to Armed state" privileges appear.
* The **"ALL"** option arms all zones with the "Change to Armed state" privilege.

Status indicators (right of the Alarm Zone name):

| Symbol | Meaning   |
| ------ | --------- |
| A      | Armed     |
| D      | Disarmed  |
| 1      | User 1    |
| 2      | User 2    |
| ?      | Not known |

HV/LF indicator (when an Alarm Zone is assigned to a Fence Zone):

| Symbol | Meaning      |
| ------ | ------------ |
| HV     | High Voltage |
| LF     | Low Feel     |

The **Back key** returns to the "Choose Action" menu.

### Arm all zones

1. Select **ALL** and press the soft key.
2. On success, the **"Zones in exit delay"** message displays.
3. Notes:
   * RATs can be configured to **beep during exit delay** (in Command Centre, add the RAT to the Delay Warnings tab of the Alarm Zone properties).
   * RATs can be configured to **beep if potential alarms are detected during monitoring** (Alarm Warnings tab).
   * The exit-delay screen shows potential alarms as warnings, but **only on RATs in the logged-off state, or used to arm one or more zones. It is NOT shown if the RAT is configured as a keypad for a reader.**

### Resolve arming failures

Common reasons a zone fails to arm:

* Alarm Zone cannot be armed
* Input within the Alarm Zone is active (can shunt)
* Fence voltage out of range
* Input is isolated

Options (if the privilege is assigned):

* **Force Arm**
* **Isolate inputs**

The **"Details" key** shows a list of Alarm Zones that failed to arm. Select an individual zone to see the reason.

### Arm individual zones

1. Use the up/down keys to select the Alarm Zone.
2. Press the key.
3. On success, "Zones in Exit Delay" displays.
4. On failure, see the failure handling above. **Note:** if a zone fails only due to a dependent Alarm Zone, those dependent zones display even without normal view privilege.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/cc-hardware/perimeter-solutions/perimeter-keypads/configure/keypads-arming.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
