# Use Encoding Kiosk

Encode a second credential and interpret Encoding Kiosk messages during daily use.

What you see when the Encoding Kiosk is running, and what each message means.

Once configuration is complete, start the application. It can be configured to use full screen in the User Interface tab.

1. The utility will check that the USB Encoder is connected.
2. If everything is correct, it will display: **Waiting for card**.

3. Present a card encoded on the Primary Site.
4. The display will indicate the card has been detected.

5. The display will indicate the data on the card is from the Primary Site, and it is now adding the Secondary Site's credential information to the card.

6. When encoding is complete, remove the card.

### Error messages

| Message                         | Meaning                                                                                                                                                               |
| ------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| "Already encoded" (or similar)  | The card has already been encoded with the secondary credential.                                                                                                      |
| "Cannot read card" (or similar) | The Kiosk cannot read the data on the card. Likely the card is not encoded on the Primary Site, or the configuration needs to be altered, for example incorrect keys. |
