# High Sec Specific Information

Understand Controller 6000 High Sec variants, naming, features, and compatibility.

This page covers content specific to the **C6000 Enhanced** (C300101) and **High Sec** (C305101) controllers. These items are not applicable to the standard C6000.

## Naming change (2023)

In 2023 the naming convention of the 6000 Enhanced/PIV controllers changed:

| Original Name             | Updated Name                 |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------- |
| Controller 6000 High Spec | **Controller 6000 Enhanced** |
| Controller 6000 (HS) PIV  | **High Sec Controller 6000** |

Customer documentation and old screenshots may still use the original names. Confirm which physical controller is on site (C300101 is Enhanced; C305101 is High Sec) before recommending a procedure.

## High Sec and Enhanced controller temperature limits

The 6000 High Sec and Enhanced controllers have **internal temperature monitors** that limit the maximum and minimum operating temperatures they will operate at.

### High temperature

| Threshold                | Behaviour                                                                                    |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 78 °C                    | Controller generates an **abnormal temperature warning**                                     |
| 80 °C | Power to the controller is **shut down**; an **orange LED** beside the power LED illuminates |
| Stays shut down until... | Temperature drops below the 78 °C threshold |

### Low temperature

| Threshold                | Behaviour                                                                                    |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| -11 °C                   | Controller generates an **abnormal temperature warning**                                     |
| -13 °C | Power to the controller is **shut down**; an **orange LED** beside the power LED illuminates |
| Stays shut down until... | Temperature rises above the -11 °C threshold |

## Unable to bring a 6000 HS online (Dip Switch 8 issue)

> ⚠️ **Scope:** This only relates to WinCE versions of the 6000 HS released **prior to July 2022** (HS controllers with serial number **2225xxxxxx and below**).

If you have been upgrading a 6000 High Spec / Enhanced controller (C300101) and had issues with bringing it online or upgraded, and have performed a **DIP Switch 8 procedure** on the controller, you may be running into a known issue.

### Symptom

If a 6000 HS controller has been upgraded directly from v7.50 (or earlier) to v8.10 and then had a DIP Switch 8 procedure performed, the controller becomes **unusable** and will have to be returned to Gallagher for servicing before it will be usable again.

Indicators:

* The C6000 HS will take an IP address.
* The controller shows an **inbound** connection on the TCP Sender page (web-browse).
* On TCP Exchange there is **no** outbound connection.

Command Centre log error:

```
CCNTBertServ[1dec:0694], GENERAL, [insert IP here] CM(logSSLError) -- [reason: 1051]
error:1409441B:SSL routines:ssl3_read_bytes:tlsv1 alert decrypt error(s3_pkt.c:1498)
SSL alert number 51
```

> ⚠️ **Unrecoverable in the field. Must be sent back to Gallagher for repair.**

### Prevention - recommended upgrade procedure

The Controller 6000 HS (C300101 Enhanced) with version **7.50 and below** should be upgraded **first** to any version within the range **v7.60 to v8.00**.

This ensures the controllers will not brick once upgraded to v8.10 and the DIP Switch 8 procedure is performed.

## Controller 6000 - High Spec or PIV Addressing (v8.00 / v8.10 only)

> ⚠️ **Scope:** This issue only happens at firmware versions **v8.00 and v8.10**. **Linux Controllers (v8.20+) are not affected.**

At v8.00 and v8.10, the Controller 6000 Enhanced and High Sec controllers behave differently than the standard 6000 controller with respect to setting the IP address of the controller via web browser.

Both controllers have **1GB Dual Failover network interfaces**.

### Symptom

If you are trying to web-browse to the controller with DIP switches 1, 2, 3 turned ON to connect to the default IP `192.168.1.199`, and you cannot connect or ping, the controller may be having issues with the network interface of the device it is connected to.

Likely failure modes: the connection speed of the network interface (laptop or switch port) is **1 GB or 100 MB**.

### Workaround

1. Change the network interface speed to **10 MB**.
2. Connect to the controller and complete addressing.
3. After addressing, the speed can be returned to **Auto Negotiation** again.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/cc-hardware/controllers/controller-6000/reference/controller-6000-high-sec-specific-info.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
