# High Spec or PIV Addressing

Configure addressing for Controller 6000 Enhanced and High Sec PIV variants.

This page covers the addressing behaviour of the C300101 (Enhanced) and C305101 (High Sec) controllers at firmware v8.00 and v8.10, including the network-interface speed workaround. The same content is covered in context on the [High Sec Specific Information](/knowledge-hub/products/cc-hardware/controllers/controller-6000/reference/controller-6000-high-sec-specific-info.md) page.

> ⚠️ **Scope:** This issue only happens at firmware versions **v8.00 and v8.10**. **Linux Controllers (v8.20+) are not affected.**

At v8.00 and v8.10, the Controller 6000 Enhanced and High Sec controllers behave differently than the standard 6000 controller with respect to setting the IP address of the controller via web browser.

Both controllers have **1GB Dual Failover network interfaces**.

## Symptom

If you are trying to web-browse to the controller with DIP switches 1, 2, 3 turned ON to connect to the default IP `192.168.1.199`, and you cannot connect or ping, the controller may be having issues with the network interface of the device it is connected to.

Likely failure modes: the connection speed of the network interface (laptop or switch port) is **1 GB or 100 MB**.

## Workaround

1. Change the network interface speed to **10 MB**.
2. Connect to the controller and complete addressing.
3. After addressing, the speed can be returned to **Auto Negotiation** again.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/cc-hardware/controllers/controller-6000/configure/controller-6000-high-spec-or-piv-addre.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
