# Life Safety Power

> 🌍 **North America only.** The Life Safety product is specifically for the North American region. Different regulations require a different product line. They should not be specified for AU, NZ, EU, UK or APAC sites.

## Overview

Gallagher provides Life Safety Power (LSP) UL compliant powered cabinets in high grade steel locking enclosures with two standard configurations. Each cabinet comes pre- installed with power supply and distribution modules.

## Life Safety Cabinets

Agency Listed for security applications, these cabinets include:

* High grade steel design with lock and key
* Pre-installed power supply and distribution modules
* Optional back plates and brackets specifically designed for Gallagher equipment
* Ample ½” and 1¼” knockouts
* Removable door for easier servicing
* 4.5” depth cabinets to fit 12Ah batteries

Some of the Life Safety cabinets have plates fitted to them, or supplied with them, to facilitate the installation of Controller 6000 controllers.

> 🧑‍🔧 **Installer note:** the plates need to be **mounted with the writing the wrong way up** for the controllers to correctly mount. The image below is not upside down.

Typically the cabinet's backplane is configured to have the holes pre-drilled for the Controller 6000 to be mounted directly to it.

## Gallagher LSP Power Supplies

LSP power supplies are a power supply battery charger specifically designed for the security industry. Capable of providing two power outputs, user selectable for 12 or 24 VDC, the unit is configured in a painted, steel, locking enclosure with tamper switch and integral battery space.

| Model      | Power | Voltage Selection             | Used in cabinet |
| ---------- | ----- | ----------------------------- | --------------- |
| **FP075**  | 75 W  | 6 A / 12 V **or** 3 A / 24 V  | LSP E2 Cabinet  |
| **FP0150** | 150 W | 12 A / 12 V **or** 6 A / 24 V | LSP E4 Cabinet  |

Both are for North, Central and South American customers.

### FP075 75 Watt PSU

This is found in the LSP E2 Cabinet, for North, Central and South American customers. It allows for 6 A / 12 V or 3 A / 24 V supply.

### FP0150 150 Watt PSU

This is found in the LSP E4 Cabinet, for North, Central and South American customers. It allows for 12 A / 12 V or 6 A / 24 V supply.

## Secondary modules

### B100 Voltage regulator

The B100 allows a second voltage to be available on the Life Safety power supply system. By default it is set to 12 V.

By moving the jumper and adjusting the potentiometer, you can select from **5 V to 18 V**.

**We recommend setting this output to 13.6 V when using Gallagher equipment**, because the Gallagher hardware expects about 13.6 V, matching the 8 A and 3.5 A Gallagher PSU rails.

When using the B100 with Life Safety power supplies, the recommendation is to set the power supply to 24 V. The B100 then steps that down to 13.6 V.

### D8 Power Distribution Panel

The D8 is a power distribution panel for selecting the desired voltage for downstream systems.

* The LEDs indicate the voltage selected: **Blue is 24 V, Green is 12 V**.
* Each output is fused with a **3 A fuse**.

### M8 Managed Output Module

This module allows extension of up to **8 outputs**, with switching between 12 V and 24 V and voltage / current monitoring via the NL4 or NLX network module.

### C8 Unmanaged Output Module

This is an unmonitored version of the M8 panel. Use it where voltage and current monitoring is not required.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/products/cc-hardware/cabinets-and-power/life-safety-power-supplies-how-to-guid.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
