# Guide specification

Current Gallagher Guide Specification for project specifications.

#### Overview![Edit section](https://resources.security.gallagher.com/skins/common/icons/icon-trans.gif)

The Gallagher Guide Specification provides assistance for system integrators, end users, and security consultants in preparing a specification for integrated access control, alarms management, perimeter, and visitor management systems.

The Guide Specification is provided as a collection of individual chapters that contains every aspect of the Gallagher system, including all Gallagher security technologies, allowing specifiers to tailor the selection of chapters to individual project requirements.

#### Compiling Your Specification![Edit section](https://resources.security.gallagher.com/skins/common/icons/icon-trans.gif)

The download includes a **Guide Specification Compiler** (`Guide_Spec_Compiler.html`) to make this easier. Open the file in any web browser - no installation required, and it works fully offline once downloaded. Select the folder of chapter files, tick the ones relevant to your project, and the tool combines them into a single Word document ready for use in your tender or specification. All processing happens locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Gallagher recommends that these files are downloaded each time a Guide Specification is needed, to ensure the latest version - and the latest compiler - is always used.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/deployment-resources/engineering-and-design-reference/guide-specification.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
