# CSV List Import

Using the CSV list import is useful for creating lists with multiple values or columns.

To import list values from a CSV file, go to the **Lists** module:

Then click the list you want to edit to open it in edit mode.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Create the list

To import values into a list, you first need to create a list. Follow the [list creation instructions](/knowledge-hub/accessnow-user-guide/workflow-creation/creating-and-managing-workflows/workflow-configuration/lists/custom-lists.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Click on the list

It opens the list in edit mode.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Click the Import from CSV button

After you click the button, the system displays the import form.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Select a CSV File

CSV file requirements:

* The CSV must have two columns.
  * Column 1 is mapped to **Key** and is used for value identification.
  * Column 2 is mapped to **Value** and is visible to users in the AccessNow form list.
* The file must have comma-separated values.

{% hint style="info" %}
CSV files may vary depending on geographical and regional settings. These variations primarily involve the delimiter used to separate values within the file. Common types include comma (,), semicolon (;), tab (`\t`), and pipe (`|`).

AccessNow requires comma (,) separated files.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Click Preview

The **Preview** button is available at the bottom of the import form.

Review the default column mappings in the preview and the imported content.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Click Import

Compatible two-column CSV files are imported without requiring additional configuration.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.security.gallagher.com/knowledge-hub/accessnow-user-guide/workflow-creation/creating-and-managing-workflows/workflow-configuration/lists/custom-lists/csv-list-import.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
